HI guys! Just wanted to let you know about the next "Drummers Intensive Day" in Cologne!
The Drummers Intensive day was started to serve the needs of drummers across the globe. After 17 years of doing clinics on a worldwide basis, I know first hand that players still have a burning desire to learn and improve their craft. As we all know this learning process never stops, for any of us. The question is always…who to turn to, and how to get time with players that have vast experience in their particular field. How can we even find them when they are not in our area of the world? Dealing with scheduling conflicts and expenses of a 1 on 1 lesson can also be a hurdle. So to make our drumming and our drumming community stronger, the Drummers Intensive day was started.

In your free time and at no charge ? Great man :rollyes: Where are those posts ? I can´t find them in your "post-history".

Thats because they were sent to my personal email dude.

Its funny how some cats will just walk into a situation and blurt out whatever nonsense that rolls of their tongue. Do we still have to deal at this level on this forum? Are we not over the petty remarks at this point in the game? We have this incredible wonderful opportunity to exchange information and study with people who have been around a long time, with vast experience...and this is what we get? Now I know this is probably a young kid with time on his hands...but there are times when people have to be called on their actions. This I feel is one of them. Get it together Buddy. Learn how to communicate as others have done with me here so very kindly. I respect them and they respect me. If you dont acquire this skill the future as a musician looks bleek. NO matter how good you play...you must be a decent human being for others to want to work with you. Trust me on that! Here is your opportunity to make a positive step towards that.

Is the only reason being here selling your stuff ? Drummerforum isn´t for this kinda purpose....... that´s at least what I think.
edit says: Give them people here some examples for free would probably be a good idea ....
    Thanks a lot !!!

Hey Drummerforum...Sorry for posting this in the wrong section. I didnt know where it was supposed to go.
As far as giving free stuff for you guys...you have my youtube page...myspace...My articles in Drums and percussion magazine....drummerworld...and mypersonal website
http://www.philmaturano.com.....where you can hear stufff for free of mine. maybe next time do your research before asking for more "Free" stuff.

I have also answered on my free time "Many" questions through the years from members of this forum ...at NO charge. So I think I can let some people know about my stuff without having to put up with being lectured. :cursing: :cursing:
    Thanks

You've got to Funk a Drei!!

Tired of sounding flat? Tired of your ideas and licks?

There is a way to expand your vocabulary right away! Through the study of Rhythm!
Rhythm is like a kaleidoscope. When you turn the Kaleidoscope it makes different shapes. Think of rhythm as the shapes you see in the kaleidoscope. As you turn your perspective rhythmically, different cyclic melodies will appear. Rhythmic perspective will determine what melody you are hearing in any cycle. In this case I chose this "rhythmic melody" if you will. Since it is pervasive in western drumming culture. Rhythm is basically infinite. And as you will see, the creative possibilities using "just" this perspective, soon become a deep ocean of drumming vocabulary.

In this lesson we are learning to open up your phrasing and achieve what some of my Students refer to as a "rolling time feel"- Also known as "Playing over the barline"

The tool we are using is what I call the...
    "3 bar cycle" -

Check out this lesson and enjoy!! - Level = Intermediate

If you love straight ahead jazz but cant figure out why your playing sounds more like a marching band then Bill Stewart, or how to get your playing to sound more open and flowing, this workshop will give you the secret. One of the questions I get asked constantly is “How do I play loose and not stiff? And of course “How do I play fast uptempo? I can tell you that technique is only one quarter of the battle. Check out this lesson and enjoy!!

    Greetings Drummer forum:
I am writting to tell you about a special event I am holding in Dortmund on June 23rd (Next Monday) called "Drummers intensive day".

These are workshops that I have given in the USA and Europe extensively. Drummers of many different levels enjoy them very much. An intensive event involves a 5 hour seminar. It will cover a range of topics assembled to some degree according to the level of players that attend. (yes there will be breaks and not 5 hours straight) And there will be a limit to the amount of players at the event.

    IN general the topics are.

Latin (styles concept / independence and phrasing)
    Inner clock studies
Contemporary Drumset Independence and styles (Rock and Funk -)
    Jazz (independence and phrasing)
    Hand technique
    Learning how to Practice

Yes, it takes one hour to teach someone how to practice. It is involved and is its own separate skill. There is a full on method to this which you will receive as print outs. Including the central concept, analysis and breakdown of subject matter, scheduling and mental preparation.

The seminar will be held in the Dortmund and it will be hosted by Marc Nathaniel, a friend and long time student.

The event will be a combination of "information / discovery" and "hands on". In other words, participants will be playing as much as possible instead of purely watching in order to receive proper evaluation. You must be prepared to play in one of the following situations.

    A) To tracks with charts on kit
    B) With me on percussion and you on kit
    C) On pads and snare drums.

What you will take home to continue your work from the event.
    My books------------
    1)"Working the Inner clock"
    2) "Latin soloing for the drumset"
    3) Available tracks from my new book "Inner clock 2" along with the workbook and charts
    4) Full version of PDF files from my DVD " Afro cuban Drumming" - Left foot clave handbook
    5) The full practice method.

    The cost €75.00 per person..
    Date - June 23rd

If you would like to talk about attending and any other suggestion or question, please write me

    pm@philmaturano.com

Thanks for reading and I look forward to your responses

Some reviews about Drummers intensive day
    ====================================
    Hey Everyone!!!!!

I had to tell you guys that the Intensive Day was amazing!!!! Really intimate and TONS of knowledge and information given and taught. If you guys can make it to the next one please do!!!!!!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!! Phil's playing is incredible and his phrasing is something else (not to mention his independence LOL!!) Well I hope all is well with everyone. Take care and God Bless.

    Carlito

I had a really awesome time with Phil and the rest of the small gang at the intensive day.
It was VERY informative and getting a chance to play and be critiqued by Phil was really a good learning experience. I went into the day not knowing very much Latin material and about 6/8 time as it pertains to Latin rhythms. After coming out of that session, my drumming horizons are truly expanded tenfold.
The books/materials we received were top notch and will last me for a very, very long time of study.
If Phil has another intensive day like this (maybe a repeat of the same stuff or moving forward with additonal/advanced materials for those who attended) I would highly recommend going.
What an invaluable experience. Thank you Phil!
    Dominick

Phil is not only an incredible drummer and musician but a cool guy too.
His Intensive day was great! Informative and fun. I would recommend his books and video to anyone. The Inner Clock stuff was challenging and the way the language of Latin (African-descended) rhythm was presented was brilliant.
Phil doesn't show you a cheesy mambo pattern and leave it at that. He teaches his students how to understand and speak the language of african-descended rhythms so that they can truly communicate in this language.
Did I mention that his latin soloing ability is on a par with anyone out there? Seriously, If you want to play this stuff, check out his materials.

Hi Kurt...thank you bro! For more info on how to do this, check out the latest Drums and Percussion magazine. My workshop on the CD has lots of playing examples and ideas as to how to go about this.

Matz...I will be around the Koln area. Stay in touch and we can arrange to get together at Drummers institute in Dusseldorf. If you are near there.

    Kind regards

Hi ...I am imagining you mean ...if there is a click track? The clave? If there is any sequencer?

if that is your question the answer is , there is = no click track or sequencer. Its all me...Live.

in the solo i am using the left foot clave technique. Pretty common these days. Everyone has there different takes on it, but I really love to use it. If i can, i use it in other styles like funk etc...When musically appropriate.

If you check out my gear page
    http://philmaturano.com/gear.html

it will give you an idea about what i am using.

Kind regards and thanks for listening.
